The following items were discussed at the regular monthly meeting of the Stratford Town Council held on Wednesday, February 14, 2024.
Amendment to Funding Agreement
A resolution was approved amending an application to the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program (ICIP) which the Town of Stratford had previously been granted funding along with the City of Charlottetown and Town of Cornwall to purchase three diesel buses and seven electric buses. As the cost and delivery times for electric buses has increased, under the amended agreement three electric and six diesel buses will be purchased which will help to meet operational requirements of the system and maintain budgets to allow for the purchase of the necessary quantity. The tri-municipal operational group remains committed to electrification of the system as costs, delivery times and technology permit.
Public Meeting Denied
A resolution was denied to hold a public meeting for a Special Permit Use to operate a Bed and Breakfast at PID #1116771. It was also recommended by the Planning, Development and Heritage Committee to not proceed with a public meeting. Under the application, the entire dwelling was to be made available for accommodation purposes which does not meet the definition and intent of the use.
First Reading of Code of Conduct Bylaw
The first reading of the Code of Conduct Bylaw, Bylaw #46 was held. The bylaw sets minimum expectations for the behaviour of members of council in carrying out their functions and decision making and replaces an older version which required a number of updates.
