The following items were discussed at the regular monthly meeting of the Stratford Town Council held on Wednesday, May 8, 2024.

New Street Names Request
A resolution to adopt the proposed street names for the Reddin Meadow’s subdivision was amended from Ferry Drive to Billy MacMillan Drive and Church Landing to Blue Church Landing as a tribute to the late Billy MacMillan and the blue church in Stratford being a landmark in the town.

General Amendments to the Building Bylaw #50
Council approved second reading and adoption amending Building Bylaw #50 that harmonizes the Town’s adoption of the 2020 National Building Code of Canada and the 2020 National Energy Code of Canada for Buildings in conjunction with the Province of Prince Edward Island.

Industrial Manufacturing Facility Deferred
Council voted to defer the resolution, which is subject to conditions and would grant Vahid Ghomoshchi, acting as the authorized agent for Fry Factory Inc., to construct an Industrial Manufacturing Facility on Lot 5 of John Joe Sark Drive, following an in-depth discussion at a future Committee of the Whole meeting.

Pondside Watershed Restoration
Council approved a supplemental capital town budget of $82,600.73 to increase the Pondside Watershed Restoration Project budget to $482,600.73 while awarding the project to Island Coastal Services Ltd. for completion of the work.
