The Town of Stratford announced the first funder for the Stratford Community Campus. Provincial Credit Union are providing a donation to be used towards the Stratford Youth Centre space and will include naming rights for the space upon its completion.

“We are very pleased to be able to share and celebrate our first of many donors towards the Stratford Community Campus,” said Stratford Mayor Steve Ogden. “Provincial Credit Union were quick to step forward and show their support of this exciting project underway and our youth will benefit greatly from their contribution to the Stratford Youth Centre space.”

The Stratford Youth Centre space will be located inside the wellness centre and see modern updates and a much larger space than they are currently operating out of. With a current membership of 78, the Stratford Youth Centre have had to limit their numbers due to the space they currently operate out of at Robert Cotton Park. An expanded space will allow for more youth from our community and surrounding area to get involved in the programming and see more opportunities for additional activities.

“The opportunity to directly support the Town of Stratford on a project that will greatly enhance the community was an opportunity we were extremely excited to take,” said Alfred Arsenault, CEO of Provincial Credit Union. “As an organization, we are deeply committed to strengthening communities across Prince Edward Island. Our investment goes beyond financial contributions; we will be dedicating our time, expertise, and resources to creating a positive impact for the next generation of Islanders. We look forward to being a supportive, positive presence at the Provincial Credit Union Youth Centre and can’t wait to see the Town of Stratford bring it to life."

The Stratford Community Campus is underway with the construction of the high school by the Province of PEI, as well as soccer and baseball/softball fields and cricket pitch designed with the intention that these sports fields will be in use for the 2026 season. The complete buildout of the Stratford Community Campus is planned to include:
• Two ice surfaces for hockey, skating, etc.
• Indoor turf area for a variety of sports
• Cultural space for arts events, performances and workshops
• Stratford Youth Centre
• Curling arena
• Gymnastics venue
• Multi-use classrooms and community space
• Sports fields including soccer, baseball/softball and cricket
• Active transportation walking path
• Other amenities provided by private operators

Full buildout is expected to be completed in phases. The Town of Stratford has applied for funding support from the Federal and Provincial levels of government to assist with this project.

“The Stratford Community Campus will be a gem for our community,” added Mayor Ogden. “It will be a gathering and meeting place, a place for social activities, fitness and learning, with something for everyone. Our council look forward to working with other members of the business community as well as individuals and families who are able to support this project and help us realize this dream. I encourage everyone to get excited and get involved.”

Fundraising for the Stratford Community Campus is being supported by the Community Foundation of Prince Edward Island.
